Children and their bears from Honeybuns Nursery raise over £425 for Action Medical Research

The children from Honeybuns Nursery Group joined schools, nurseries and children’s groups across the UK to celebrate their favourite bears by holding a Bring your Bear week from 3rd -7th October.

The aim of Bring your Bear was to raise funds for Honeybuns Nursery’s new charity partner, Action Medical Research.

The children and their teddy bears took part in lots of activities, both fun and educational, making a passport for their teddies, taking them to a tea party and reading Paddington BearTM at story time. The Honeybuns team also talked to the children about the importance of helping others. A cuddly version of Paddington, the charity’s mascot, also joined us for the week.

Nursery Group Owner, Anthony Reeley says “Both the staff and children had a really lovely week. The children were so excited to bring their bears in to show them around their nursery and it was an absolute delight to meet them all! I’d like to thank all our parents and carers for their amazing support for this event.”

Gina Campbell at Action Medical Research says: “Bring your Bear is a really fun event for children and a great way for them to show they care. It’s lovely to see them getting involved and every year we receive fantastic feedback about what they’ve been doing. We hope children all over the UK will join in to make 2016 an extra special year and help us to fund even more life-changing research for some of the UK’s sickest babies and children.”

The Honeybuns team will also be raising money over the next two years with a programme of on-going activities, including the ‘London to Paris Bike Ride 2017’ and Team Challenges, all of which are designed to work with the local community.

Well done to all of our children for taking part in ‘Bring Your Bear’ so far this week, raising vital funds for Action Medical Research. Also a huge ‘Thank You’ to all of our parents and carers for their generous donations. We have currently raised a fantastic amount of £375 and we still have 1 day to go! Please carry on making your donations in our charity buckets at nursery.

Thank you for your support.

Bring your Bear to nursery

Children will be joining in the Honeybuns Nursery fundraising event,  ‘Bring your Bear’ between the 3rd-7th October 2016.

We will be raising funds for the children’s charity Action Medical Research. The mascot of the charity and the inspiration of this event is Paddington Bear™.

Children will take part in lots of teddy bear related activities and games, with all the money raised going to a really worthwhile cause.

Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide medical research charity dedicated to helping babies and children. They’ve been funding medical breakthroughs since they began in 1952 and have spent more than £110 million on research that has helped some thousands of children’s lives and changed many more.

Every pound raised from this event will help fund studies that could one day help children like Katie, who was born two months early and needed resuscitating at birth; little Cieran, who was left scarred for life by meningitis, and Jack who was diagnosed with a brain tumour at just 14 months old.

So please remember to bring your child’s teddy bear to nursery on Week Commencing 3rd October 2016 along with a two pound donation.

Best wishes to all our new school starters!

Thank you to all of our kind generous parents for your lovely words and gifts that we have received at nursery. It’s always sad when we wave goodbye to the children going off to school, however we are always exceptionally proud of what they have achieved at nursery.

It has been a pleasure to help and watch them grow into wonderful, clever little people. Your kind words make it all worth while and all of our staff would like to wish the children a very happy start at their new school.

It’s Graduation time!

Well, it’s that time of year again when we say goodbye to our school leavers. Many of the children have visited their new schools or have been visited at nursery by their new teacher. It’s a very exciting time for the children and we wish them a wonderful future ahead. We will miss them!

All our ‘Graduates’ have enjoyed a wonderful Graduation Party which included a children’s entertainer, party games, food and a scroll and gift for every child.

A big thank you to all the staff who helped prepare for the day to make it special for all the children.

We’d also like to thank all our parents, we really appreciate your continued support.

Have a fantastic summer!

Honeybuns receives £500 cash boost from Taylor Wimpey

Children in Norton Canes are reaping the benefits of brand new play equipment after leading local housebuilder Taylor Wimpey Midlands donated £500 to Honeybuns Day Nursery!

The developer – which is currently building high-quality new homes at its Chasewater Grange development in the village – kindly offered to fund tricycles, gyrate swing cars and other equipment for the children to enjoy outdoors.

Anthony Reeley, Owner of Honeybuns Day Nursery says: “Taylor Wimpey got in touch with us to see if we had any projects or upcoming charity events that they could help with.

“It was a very pleasant surprise when they said they would give us £500 towards new outdoor play equipment!”

Honeybuns Day Nursery, which caters for youngsters up to the age of five, is currently in the process of expanding its outdoor play area, having recently purchased an additional piece of land adjacent to the existing play area.

“The children gain enormous benefits from outdoor play,” continues Anthony. “There is always a sense of excitement when they go outside and the noise level certainly goes up!

“Having this new equipment will really enrich the children’s outdoor play so we would like to thank Taylor Wimpey for their generosity.”

Anne Wallace, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for Taylor Wimpey, says: “As a local housebuilder we are committed to supporting the communities in which we build our new homes and we’re delighted that our donation will help the children at Honeybuns Day Nursery in their playtime development.”
